Mann of the county and state aforesaid of the one part and Diana V. snellings of the same place of the other part, Witnesseth that the said James N. Mann for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he has and bears to his cousin Diana V. Snellings hath given, granted and conveyed and doth by these presents give and grant and convey to the said Diana V. snellings during her natural life, all that tract or parcel of land known as the place where Virginia Snellings lived at the time of her death, containing sixty six acres, more or less, bounded on the north by land belonging to the estate of Stephen Jones, west by lands of Philip Clemons, south by lands belonging to Wm. Robertson and others, east by lands of E.W. Thrasher. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land to her the said Diana V. Snellings during her natural life together wit all and singulare the rights members and appertances as to the same in any maner belonging to her own proper use benefit and behoof forever infee simple. In testimony whereof the said James N. Mann hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of J. B. Bostwick C.B Stovall oridnary James N. Mann seal Recorded 17th April 1868 C. H. _______ clerk Additional Comments: James N. Mann was a first cousin of Miss Diana Snellings. Diana's mother was Virginia (Mann) Snellings. The Manns and Snellings removed from Chesterfield County, Virginia to Morgan County, Georgia before 1810. Diana's father, Alexander, died at a young age. Family legend is that the Alexander Snellings' House in which Virginia lived burned, and that James N. Mann built a house and gave it to his cousin, Diana. This property and house was opposite the Rehobath Cemetery on a dirt road. The Rehobath Methodist Church was opposite the cemetery having been given by Madison Branch Snellings, brother of Miss Diana Snellings.
