Few, S2c, and Robert E. Moore, MOMM3c, both of Madison. Lt. (jg) Fred Loring White, of Buckhead, was placed on inactive duty in the Naval Reserv. Millard R. Shepherd, of Route No. 2, was separated from the Naval Service at the Naval Air Station in Charleston, S. C., after two years service. Sgt. John E. Bryans, of Newborn, has received an honorable discharge at Fort McPherson after spending 27 months in the Army, 18 of which were overseas with the 11th Air Force. He is authorized to wear the Asiatic-Pacific and American Theater ribbons. 1-Sgt. Copelan Re-enlists First Sergeant Julian A. Copelan left May 29 to report back to Fort McPherson, after spending a 90-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Copelan of Rutledge. Sgt. Copelan has been in the service 33 months, spending 30 months overseas where he participated in the liberation of Luzon in the Philippines. Wounded twice in combat, he wears the Purple Heart. After V-J Day he was stationed in Tokyo. Sgt. Copelan has re-enlisted for an 18-month period and expects to be returned to Japan as part of the occupation forces. Barrett l. Walker is at home now after having received an honorable discharge from the Army recently at Fort McPherson, Ga. Barrett was in the service 25 months, spending six months of this time overseas with the 8th Air Force. Prior to entering the service he graduated from North Georgia College, at Dahlonega. He plans to enter Georgia Tech in September to complete his education. William C. Shouse has been back on the job at Madison Drug Co., for several weeks after receiving his discharge. He was away in the service two years and nine months. Thomas Malcom Promoted Cpl. Thomas G. Malcom, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Malcom, RFD 1, Madison, has been promoted from the grade of private first class to corporal as a member of the 341st Infantry Regiment, 86th Infantry Division, according to a press release from the Division's Public Relations office. Inducted in December 1944, Cpl. Malcom has been assigned to the 86th Division since June 1945. He wears the European Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbons and the World War II Victory Medal. Staff Sergeant Edmond Griffith has received an honorable discharge from the Army at Fort Bragg, N. C., after two years and six months of service. His wife has been residing in Madison and his parents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Griffith of Oconee. Sgt. Griffith was overseas 21 months, receiving one battle star in France. Before he enlisted his occupation was farming. Additional Comments: Typographical error relating to First Sergeant Julian A. Copelan was corrected.
