We have lost several of our neighbors since the beginning of the new year. Those moving away were Mr. and Mrs. Thad Copelan, Mr. W. F. Whitaker and family and Mrs. E. L. Brobston and family. In the moving of Mrs. Bobston Brownwood has lost its last pioneer citizen. Her family is one of the finest we ever knew. All these good people will be greatly missed, but we are wishing them much happiness and prosperity in their new homes. The Missionary Society met last Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. T. Jones. Quite a number were present and we had a very interesting meeting. Mrs. Roe Copelan entertained her neighbors and friends with a lovely birthday dinner last Friday in honor of her seventy-third birthday. At one o'clock we were invited into the dining room where you never saw a table loaded with so many good things to eat. After dinner we enjoyed the music of the Victrola. "Grandma Copelan," as she is known in Brownwood, is spry and full of energy for a woman of her age. We all had a delightful time and regretted very much when time came to go. But as we left we wished for her many more happy birthdays. Sorry to note Miss Emma Logan on the sick list. Wish for her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Love Atkinson and baby, of Greensboro, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Few. Mrs. F. B. Bohlen, of Indian Creek Dairy, was visiting in our community last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. A. W. Atkinson was called to Richland by the death of her brother, Mr. (initials unreadable) Gillen(?). Additional Comments: Mrs. Roe Copelan is Permelia Victoria Winslett-Copelan.
