He was born October 17, 1852, married to Mary "Molly" Wofford, and died in Hancock County on February 27, 1920. He and his wife are buried in the cemetery next to Culverton Baptist Church. Obituary in the Christian Index 4-29-1920, page 30 Butts--Francis Bacon Butts went to glory from his home at Culverton, Hancock County, Feb 27, 1920 Bro. Butts was sixty-seven years old, and had been a member of a Baptist Church for fifty years and a deacon for about eighteen years. His heart was in his church and Sunday school at Culverton. One could not be with him long without hearing him speak of these interests. Mrs. Butts and seven children, four brothers and one sister survive him. One of these brothers is Rev. Joel Butts of Atlanta, beloved of all who know him. E. J. Forrester. Note: Dr. E. J. Forrester was a member of the Washington Baptist Association. He was a pastor of the Sparta Baptist Church, from 1918 to 1920. Forrester was also a professor of Bible at Mercer from 1905-1918. The Butts family were related through marriage to Rev.
