Died, in Morgan county, at his residence, on Sunday the 1st inst. of a 
relapse case of fever, Thomas Fielder, aged about 65 years. The deceased, was 
a man of remarkably plain and unsophisticated manners, hospitable to 
strangers, and attentive to his neighbors, of sterling worth, esteemed for 
his integrity and firmness, an honest man, such as all good people delight to 
esteem. Those who know him best, could best estimate his worth. He was a 
respectable member of the Baptist church for many years. He leaves a wife and 
several children, with numerous friends and relatives, to mourn his loss. But 
consolation is found in the hope, that loss to them, is eternal gain to him 
Spirits long chained to Earth, wearied with cares, temptations, and sore 
afflictions, are taken to realms of unfading bliss, by Him, who can sooth a 
widow's wo and wipe an orphan's tear.

Gentle spirit rest in peace,
No more on Earth we'll meet;
But when this mortal breath shall cease,
We'll meet in Heaven, at Jesus feet.

The following is an excerpt concerning Thomas Fielder written in the Fielder 
Family Record by Herbert Fielder:

"Thomas Fielder, born 1782. He was a man of limited information, but of 
remarkably good common sense - of great firmness and decision, and untiring 
energy. To his friends he was all frienship - to his enemies, openly all 
enmity. He knew how to earn money honestly, and save it, and his character 
for honesty was unspotted. He married Hasky Thurmond, by whom he had five 
children. James is much like his father in character, disposition and habits. 
He resides in Pike County, Ala., and is rapidly growing rich. He married Miss 
Brown, of Morgan County, Ga., by whom he has several promising children. He 
has his second wife - represented to be an excellent lady."

"Fielding is a physician, residing in the western part of Alabama. He is a 
man of active and vigorous mind and indomitable energy. He married Miss 
Moseley, of Henry County, Ga. He is also growing rich."

"Ann married Paschal Wood, of Heard County, who is in prosperous 
circumstances and a highly esteemed citizen, of remarkably good sense. He has 
four children - all daughters. One married Goolsby, another Frederick - both 
of Heard - another Henson, of Arkansas. The fourth is a girl, in the female 
college at Newman, Georgia."

"Elizabeth married Josephus Clark, of Morgan; had two children and died. 
Sarah married James Glass, now of Henry County, Ga." "

"Thomas, by his second wife, Polly Howard, had two children. Louisa married 
William Robinson, of Morgan. Thomas married Miss Ozburn, of Jasper; had one 
child and died. The children of Thomas, who are living, are all in prosperous 
circumstances. Mrs. Robinson has no children."

"Thomas died in 1848. His widow has married a gentleman by the name of West."
