State Items Condensed

Madison – Pink Harris, an old Confederate veteran and farmer, was found dead in
his cotton patch.  His head was shot to pieces, two loads of shot going through
the back part.  There is no clue so far as to the perpetrators of the deed, but
it is thought that robbery was the motive, as it was known that he had a large
sum on his person at the time he was shot.
