Clarke johnrclarke_ga@msn.com ==================================================================== 1928 obit of Arthur Potter Richter – June 22, 1928 in the Madison (GA) Madisonian Veteran Dead Wednesday night while reclining in a large chair in which he was accustomed to sleeping because of heart trouble, Mr. A. P. Richter passed suddenly away, after an illness of more than a year. His death can so quietly and peacefully that he was gone hardly before the family realized it. The funeral service will be held from the home Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Scott Patterson, with internment in the family lot of the new cemetery. Humperley Undertaking Co. in charge. The deceased was one of the old and highly esteemed residents of the town, being born here August 27, 1844, being in the eighty-forth year of age. All of his life spent here, engaged in the mercantile business at different times during his long life. He was the son of Charles and Anna Potter Richter and is the last of his large family, except Mrs. White of Meridian, Miss. who survives him. Other sisters who have passed away were Mrs. M. A. Mustin, of this city, and Mrs. Sarah Hunter, of Oglethorpe County,. Brothers were Charles, John C. and Martin L. Richter, all now dead. Surviving the deceased are two children – Woodruff Richter, Sr., of Miami, and Miss Nellie Richter, of the city. Grand children are Woodruff Richter, Jr., of this city, and Mrs. William Mizell, of Folkston, Ga. The mother and grandmother, who was a Miss Fielding, died many years ago. The deceased was a veteran of the War Between the States and a member of the local camp of Confederate veterans and member of the Madison Baptist church.
