Mrs. Fears, the former Lucile Spears, was born December 19, 1898, the daughter of Aquilla and Joseph B. Spears. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and taught school a number of years in Morgan and Jasper counties. She was an active member of Pennington Methodist Church and was the oldest member at the time of her death. Survivors are two sons, Harold Kendrick Fears, of Americus, and John Evan Fears, Jr., or Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Bohlen and Miss Pauline Spears, both of Madison; two brothers, Clayton Spears, Madison, and J. B. Spears, Aiken, South Carolina; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1978. Graveside services were held July 7th at 10 a.m. at Pennington Methodist Cemetery with the Reverend Bonnie Peters officiating. Simmons Funderal Home was in charge of arrangements.
