She was the last of the children of Maj. Oliver Porter, the sister of Mr. Anthony Porter of Savannah, Ga., and of Mr. John W. Porter of Madison, Ga., both of whom died many years ago. She was born in Greene County, Ga., January 8th 1793 and on 15 December 1813 was married to Adam G. Saffold, of Madison, Ga. She raised only two children-- a son Mr. Wm. O. Saffold, who died on the 6th of January last, and a daughter Mrs. Col. D. S. Johnson, now residing in Madison, in the old family mansion. A. Means
