Item, I lend unto my well beloved wife Susanna Bauldwin the land and plantation whereon I now live during her widowhood. I also lend her all my stock of every kind together with all my household furniture. I also lend unto my well beloved wife Susanna Baldwin three Negro men, Isaac, Jacob and Roger and a woman called --anna during her life. Item I give and bequeath unto my wife Susanna Baldwin a Negro girl named ------- to be at her own disposal forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Judith a Negro Named Esey that is now in her possession together with all her increase forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Bauldwin one negro man named Ben which is now in his possession. I also give him five shillings sterling, as his full part of my estate forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Baldwin one Negro man named Pompey which is now in his possession to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Betty one Negro woman named Jinny and her increase forever which is now in her possession. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Agness Harris one negro boy named Bill which is now in her possession and ten pounds cash at the death of my wife to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Baldwin on negro boy named Bowser which in now in his possession to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Baldwin one negro boy named Stephen to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Charles Baldwin one Negro boy named Moses to him and his heirs forever. I also give and bequeath to my two last mentioned sons Henry and Charles Baldwin one still which I have now in possession to them and their heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Susanna a Negro boy named Aaron which she has now in possession to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Patty Baldwin a negro boy named David and a horse and bed to worth twenty eight pounds. I also give to my daughter Patty Baldwin one Negro girl named Judy to be hers after her Mothers death to her and her heirs forever. My will further is that Harry, Tony, and Abram be sold and the money equally divided among all my children except my son Robert Baldwin he is to have no part of it My will further is that after the death of my wife the land I now live on be divided as the road runs between my two sons Henry and Charles, Henry to have the part down the river to the road and Charles to have the part I now live up on to the road. My will further is that after my wifes death my two sons Henry and Charles Baldwin to have all my stock of every sort and all my household furniture and all my bonds and cash to be equally divided between the two. Item my will further is that after the death of my wife, that Isaac, Jacob, and Roger be sold and the money equally divided between all my children except Robert Baldwin he is to have no part of it. My will is that my estate be not appraised, nor my Executors held to give securety. I appoint my wife Susanna Baldwin and my son Henry Baldwin and my son Charles Bauldwin Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have herewith put my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of June one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us James Cody John Baldwin seal Hutchens Mathews Nathaniel Mathews At a Court held for Prince Edward County December 16th 1799---- This Last Will and Testament of John Baldwin deceased was presented in Court and proved by the oath of Hutchins Mathews and Nathaniel Mathews two of the witnesses thereto ordered that the same be recorded, on the motion of Henry Baldwin and Charles Baldwin two of the Executors therein named (no securety being required by said will) who gave bond in the penalty of two thousand pounds and Conditioned according to Law and took the oath required by Law. Certificate for obtaining a probate thereof in due form is granted them and leave given the other Executor to take Execution thereof at another day. Teste Watkins CC
