All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sandy Arnold Carr smoochnhugn@yahoo.com WILL AND TESTAMENT OF WILLIAM HARRIS In the name of God amen: I, William Harris of Morgan County in the State of Georgia being in a low State of health but perfect mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last will and testament in names and form following (writ) First, I do wish all my just debts to be paid and that my present crop of cotton when made be sold and the money paid toward the discharge of the same, and I wish my Executors to sell such part of my perishable property as can best be spared a sufficiency to complete the same. 2ndly, I give and bequeath to my daughter Phenaty Thompson one negro girl named Chaney and one sorrel horse bridle and saddle at the appraised value 3rdly, I wish my Executors to have the balance of my estate appraised and that it remain in procession of my beloved wife Sarah Harris during her natural life or widowhood, provided she give to each of my minor children their equal part their of and they ____ on become of age and in care my wife should marry, I wish as equal distributed made of my remaining Estate between herself and those of my children which may be unmarried or underage and should my wife die before all my children should become of age or marry those of them who have not recover their equal part tis my wish they should receive and should there be a remaining surplus of my property, after they have each received a part equal to that of my daughter Phenaty Thompson that such surplus be equally divided amongst all my children. And in case any of my children die without a lawful heir of their body my wish is that their property be equally divided between the surviving part of my children, I do nominate and appoint Asa Prior, Robert Thompson, and Ausborn Harris, Executors, to this my last will and testament revolving and disnulling all other wills by me before ____in witness of the said William Harris have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this tenth day of May Eighteen hundred and twenty.
