Stribling and wife, Sarah; Andrew Owens and wife, Jemmima; and Thomas L. Psalmonds of Muscogee County, Georgia to Purchaser: Daniel Cordray of Washington County, Georgia One-half interest in Lot 259, District 10, Muscogee County; this would amount to 101.25 acres, since all of Lot 259 contained 202.5 acres (45 chains by 45 chains). Price: $150 cash in hand paid. Date: January 6, 1835 Signed: Francis M. Stribling Sarah Stribling (her mark) A. Owens Jemmima Owens (her mark) Thomas L. Psalmonds Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of Sarah Psalmonds and Thomas Psalmonds, JP Pages 298 and 299 Note: These appear to be the married daughters of John Psalmonds, deceased, joined by their husbands and their brother, selling their half-interest in Lot 259. It is likely that the date should be 1836, since the half- interest purchased from the "Orphans of John Psalmonds" occurred in December of 1835. It is unlikely Daniel Cordray, or anyone, would purchase one-half of a tract of land with orphans owning the other half. It is more likely that as often happens in January of a new year, the old year was written instead of the new year. This deed was not recorded until 1857 after the death of Daniel Cordray.
