WIDOW'S PENSION
under act of 1910 amended 1919

Mrs. Irene A. Abbott
Widow of H.J. Abbott
Co A 2nd GA Bttn

Appears before R.J. Hunter (?) Ordinary of Muscogee County, verifies she was a resident of Muscogee Co Nov 4, 1908 and also knows the witness, W.F. Snyder. Dated Sept 28, 1920

Witness Mrs. Irene A. Abbott residing in Columbus, GA. wife of H.J. Abbott. Not married since his death. Husband not personally present at time of surrender. He was in Canada. Left his command on account of sickness  (can't read the other words) Not captured by enemy.
Residing with husband at time of death Dec 11, 1896. Neither received a pension prior to this application. Sept 28, 1920

Witness of W.F. Snyder - Columbus GA
knew Mrs. H.J. Abbot (written over hard to read) since 1870 until his death. She has lived in this state since 1870.
She was married to H.J. Abbott. He knew H.J. Abbott since 1860. H.J. Abbott died Dec 1896 at Columbus GA. Living together as man and wife at his death.

H.J. Abbott enlisted April 1861 in Columbus Co A. 2nd GA Battn Infantry. He (Snyder) was a member of the same company. H.J. Abbott was in service for about two years. Surrendered April 1865 in Virginia.

Snyder was not present at surrender. He was in Columbus, Naval Dep? because of being wounded at Petersburg, disabled and detailed .

Husband (Abbott) not personally present at surrender--he was discharged on account of sickness. Snyder doesn't know exactly the date he left the command, but was "by proper authority".
