C. Watkins details his service and files for a pension as a Confederate Veteran. He states that he was born in Muscogee County, Georgia on April 7th 1837. He states that he enlisted in May of 1862 in Company A of the 7th Confederate Cavalry. He states that he was transferred in 1864 to the 10th Georgia Cavalry. He states that his company and regiment surrendered at Hillsboro, North Carolina on April 26th 1865. He states that he was at home on parole and not with his regiment when it was surrendered. He states that he was captured at Petersburg, Virginia on September 30th 1864 and sent to Point Lookout in Maryland as a POW.He states that he was paroled on March 1865 and was not exchanged. Additional Comments: His name was Samuel Columbus Watkiins. He was one of the sons of William Watkins of Muscogee County. He was buried at Linwood Cemetery. He died in 1909.
