M. MOORE, clerk of council, in overlooking some old papers of his father, Mr. J. S. MOORE, found the following, which is probably a roll of the Columbus Guards, as the company was mustered into service for the Creek war. It will be noticed that the company numbered five commissioned officers, five sergeants, four corporals, and seventy-three privates. Asa BATES was afterwards colonel of the regiment, Jas. C. HOLLAND, major, and A. B. DAWSON inspector of brigade. The company served with distinction in the Mexican and late [Civil] war. We notice that Captain John E. DAVIS was promoted to quartermaster’s department, and Lewis LIVINGSTON to be the colonel’s secretary, William D. HARDGROVE was represented by CASHON as substitute, Edward CAREY was over age, and Henry ANDERSON, being on the sick list, served one day, and John R.
