At the drug stores, only the prescription clerks were on duty. At a restaurant, a patron could by food and coffee, but if he wanted cigars or coca-cola the clerk would shake his head. The town was never so completely tied up in a business way in its history, although street cars were running and Sunday newspapers were delivered.
