F. Patterson, of Chattahoochee county, had met with a serious accident some miles from the city. Several friends, among whom were Mr. W. J. Watt and Mr. John Patterson, went immediately to the place where it was said he was injured. They found that while descending Britton's hill the mules became frightened and ran away, throwing Mr. Patterson to the ground with great force. The wagon passed over his shoulder, bruising it considerably. At first it was thought he was dead, as when found he was bleeding from the mouth and ears. Mr. Holliman soon came along and kindly offered to take Mr. Patterson home. He was accordingly placed in Mr. H's wagon and made as comfortable as possible.
