Dr. E. A. Banks, Columbus. Columbus, Ga., September 9- Dr. Elbert A. Banks died this morning at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Peacock, in Wynnton, after a short illness. Dr. Banks was 62 years of age and was one of Columbus' most highly respected citizens. He was born and reared in this city, being a son of the late Colonel John Banks. He served with distinction in the civil war, being a member of the famous Nelson Rangers. After the war he moved to New York, where he studied medicine. After his graduation he practiced medicine twenty-five years in that city with eminent success, but a few years ago, finding the winters too severs, he returned to Columbus, where he practiced medicine actively up to but a few days ago. Dr. Banks was a prominent member of Camp Benning, United Confederate Veterans. The funeral occurs at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Peacock, in Wynnton. Dr. Banks is survived by two sister, Mrs. E. E. Yonge and Mrs. Peacock. He was the last of nine brothers.
