April 25, 1960 John A. Barnes John A. Barnes, 83, 2501 First Ave. died at 8:20 a.m. today at The Medical Center after an illness of one week. Mr. Barnes was retired grocer and had lived in Columbus 39 years. He came to Columbus from Montgomery, Ala., and was born in CRENSHAW County, Ala., Jan. 15 1877, son of the late Jospeh and Caroline Jackson Barnes. He was the Widowed of Fannie HALL Barnes. Surviving him are two sons, J.C. Barnes, Montgomery, J.P. Barnes, Columbus; Five Daughters, Mrs. W.M. King, Mrs. S.C. Pitts, both of Columbus, Mrs, Joseph Spewak, and Mrs. John Scuffert, both of Montgomery and Mrs. Charlie Hoyt, Los Angeles, Calif. Two Brothers, Joe Barnes of Sulear Fla, Will Barnes, Tampa Fla. and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Brunson, Andalusia, Ala: 24 Grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
