D. W. CHAMPAYNE COLUMBUS, Ga., May 5 - Major D. W. Champayne died last night in Houston, Tex., where he went some two months ago. He was about 70 years of age, and for nearly fifty years was an architect and contractor in Columbus. He built the Rankin house, Webster building, Third National and Chattahoochee National Bank buildings here, and superintended the erection of the government building, Eagle and Phenix dam and other important works. He superintended the building of the state capitol in Atlanta, and of the government buildings in New Orleans and Birmingham. He will be buried in Columbus Thursday.
