He had lived here for the past 45 years, and was a retired Muscogee County employee. Hancock was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Mount Hermon Lodge of Masons. He was born in Worth County, Ga, May 20, 1892. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Hancock, Columbus; a daughter, Mrs. S. J. Porter, Columbus; a son, James L. Hancock Jr., U. S. Air Force, Hawaii; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Kimsey, Jennings, Fla., and Mrs. Lizzie Taylor, Green Cove Springs, Fla.; two brothers Frank and Jess Hancock, both of Jasper, Fla.
