Enquirer, Page 8 Mr. Charles S. Harrison died at his home on Rose Hill yesterday morning about 11 o'clock, after a protracted illness of paralysis. This announcement will carry a pang of sorrow to many hearts for Mr. Harrison was one of the oldest and most highly respected of sons of Columbus. As the leading auctioneer of this city for many years, he became widely known and made friends by the score. He was a jovial, warm hearted man, but firm in his convictions and generous to his fellow man. He never made an enemy if it could be avoided, but he would not sacrifice his conception of right for any consideration. By his genial disposition, he cast a ray of sunshine on all around, and even in his protracted illness he was cheerful and helpful. He leaves a wife and six children all of whom are grown, and in their sad bereavement they have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. Mr. Harrison was 68 years of age and came to this city from Edgefield, SC. in 1841. The funeral will take place from the family residence at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon. Funeral Notice (Same date, same page) The friends and acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Harrison are respectfully requested to attend the funeral of the former from the family residence on Rose Hill this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Additional Comments: Charles Stewart Harrison was the son of Edmund Walpole Harrison and Mary Ann Mims of Edgefield, SC., and the husband of Lucy Emmett Sturgis of Columbus. He is buried in Linwood Cemetary, Columbus.
