HARRISON AMONG THE DEAD Official News of Death of Galland Columbus Young Man in France Received by His Father Lieutenant Charles G. Harrison, son of Capt. Joseph S. Harrison, of this city, has been killed in action over yonder, and the hundred of friends and admirers of this well know Columbus boy were shocked and grieved by the news which came in a telegram from the war department last night to the young man’s father, stating that he was killed in action on September 12, in France. Lieutenant Harrison, before entering the service of his country, was one of Columbus’ most prominent young business men, having been employed in the office of Mr. Charles M. Woolfolk for several years. He was a most exemplary young man, being a consistent member of the First Presbyterian church, and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sadly bereaved family. Lieutenant Harrison was a member of Company F, 328 Infantry, and received his training at Fort McPherson. He embarked for France in April, and according to letters received by his father, he was devoting himself with vigor in the fight for liberty which is being so gallantly waged by the allied armies, and especially the Americans. Lieutenant Harrison was born and reared in Columbus and was twenty-seven years of age. He is survived by his father and one brother, J. Marshall Harrison, and three sisters, Miss Maggie Harrison, Miss Agnes Harrison and Mrs. Ed. Fleetwood, and by his aged grandmother, Mrs. Jane Martin, and a number of other relatives.
