Cusseta, GA – William Walter “Billy” Miller, Sr., 81, died Monday, February 
11, 2008 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11 
a.m. at the Upper Cemetery in Cusseta with Reverend Rob McDaniel officiating.

Mr. Miller was born June 27, 1926 in Crawford, Alabama to the late Maude Cook 
and Benjamin Bartow Miller, Sr.  He was preceded in death by his sisters, 
Gertrude Pope and Sara Page; and by a brother, Bartow Miller.  He was 
Methodist by faith and was a member of Cusseta United Methodist Church.  He 
joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served as a Seabee in the 
South Pacific during World War II.  He had lived in Cusseta all his life where 
he was a member of the Board of Education, Soil & Water Conservation of 
Georgia, VFW #5000, and was a charter member of the Fall-Line Cattlemen’s 
Association. He retired from civil service after 20 years as a fireman at Ft. 
Benning and was a County Commissioner for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian McMichael Miller; two sons, William Walter 
Miller, Jr. and wife Polly of Columbus and Ben Miller and Pam Ligon of 
Cusseta; a daughter, Marguerite Miller Murdock and husband Robert of Columbus; 
a sister, Nina Duderewicz of Columbus; and eight grandchildren, Gilbert 
Miller, Pierce Miller, Kelly Murdock, Tracy Henry and husband Justin, Quilly 
Miller, Bart Miller and Will Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family repectfully requests that donations be made to 
Cusseta United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 368, Cusseta, GA 31805.
