Massey Dies Sunday July 10, 1932 Funeral Services for a Well-Known Columbus Citizen Were Held Monday Afternoon Edward Eli Massey, 71 well known Columbus Citizen, died Sunday morning at 2:45 o'clock at his residence, 820 Third avenue, after a long illness. Me. Massey, the son of Jerry and Frances Broadnax Massey, was born in Columbus December 1, 1860. He was superintendent of the street and sewer department of the city of Columbus for 45 years. He was active in fraternal circles being a past chancellor commander of the Stonewall-Lee Lodge, No. 25, Knights of Pythias, and a royal prince of the Sinbad Temple, No. 137, Dramatic order of Knights of Korassan. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, W.E. "Bud" Massey; two grandsons, J.E. "Jack" Massey, W.D. "Bill" Massey, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Torbett funeral home, Rev. B. A. Pafford, Pastor of the Rose Hill Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Dr. Robert S. Boyd, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. The Stonewall-Lee lodge, Knights of Pythias held thheir ritual at the grave in Linwood Cemetery.
