E. Massey At Striffler Chapel Funeral for William Edward (Bud) Massey, 64, 1407 18th Ave., who died in City Hospital at midnight Thursday after a heart attack, will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at Striffler Mortuary Chapel. Dr. John L. Waldrop, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. A life-long resident of Columbus, Mr. Massey was the owner of Massey Bait and Tackle Shop and a former partner in Pease and Massey Company. Mr. Massey was born in Columbus, Jan. 14, 1888, son of the late Edward E. Massey and Mrs. Ann Crane Massey. He was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church. And outstanding athlete in his youth, Mr Massey played on the local YMCA's southeastern championship basketball team from 1910-12. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audrey Skinner Massey; two sons, Lt. Jack Massey, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D. C. and William D. Massey, Phenix City; three grandchildren, Beverly, Janette, and William Massey, Jr., all of Phenix City. Pallbearers will be W. Roy Luttrell, Fred Haskins, Schley Gordy, Russell Davidson, Jr., T. H. Mahone, Maj. C. A. Shamotulski, J. Victor Hutchinson, and E. E. Thiele. Honorary Pallbearers will be W. T. Heard, D. Abbott Turner, Henry Pease, Vivian Pease, Persons Dozier, Thomas Andrews, Bob Manning, Cliff D. Smith, Chester C. Newman, Thomas Phillips, and Leonard Pease. Joan Hill vjbhill@alltel.net
