Sparks The death of this noble young man, occurred at the hospital in Columbus, on the 14th of June, and was rendered peculiarly sad, from the fact that his father was critically ill at a hospital in Atlanta, and his mother could not be with him; was on her way to see him, when the sad intelligence of his death, reached her. His brother, Mr. E.K. Sparks of Atlanta, attended his bedside, and other loving hands administered to every want. Wick held a responsible position as stenographer in Columbus, where he made many friends; quite a number accompanying the remains here, where the interment took place, at Shiloh cemetery. The casket being entirely covered with costly and lovely floral designs, the high esteem in which the deceased was held. He was a member of the M.E. Church, and a regular attendant at its ordinances, his last conversation with his mother, testifying to this assurance. Death came to this young man of fine promise; in the bloom of life, at the age of twenty- one years; and from a human standpoint before his work was finished. There is no surer prophecy of immortality that the incompleteness of human life. Indeed it is like an unfinished shaft. But somewhere in God’s great universe, there is a place, where life, God given life, will be completed. Faith whispers that there is surely such a place, that its gate is alas; the grave; but having once passed its portals we then only, shall begin to live. Then look up grief stricken loved ones, through your blinded tears, with a radiant hope of a happy reunion beyond the tomb. Mrs. G.Y.M.
