Sealy Yesterday Was a Very Popular Young Man – Funeral At Howard Columbus, Ga., May 24 – The death of Mr. E.C. Sealy, a well-known young man, has cast a pall of sorrow over a large company of friends among whom he was very popular. Mr. Sealy was just twenty-three years of age and was a bright and popular young man, full of life and energy and his death yesterday afternoon at 2:45 o’clock of fever, after an illness of two weeks, at the residence of Mr. C.A. Martin, 108 Eight Street, where he resided, was particularly sad. Mr. Sealy was employed in the bookkeeping department of the Reich & Chambers Company. He came to the city from Howard, Ga., two years ago and identified with St. Luke Methodist Church and its organizations, being a member of the Epworth League and secretary of the Bible class at St. Luke Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Sealy, of Howard, Ga., parents of the deceased, survive him. His mother was with him at the time of his death but the father arrived soon after the young man’s demise. Five brothers and three sisters survive Mr. Sealy, as follows: Messrs. D.N. Sealy, Oland Sealy, Hubbard A. Sealy and W.H. Sealy of Howard, Ga., H.K. Sealy of Abbeville, Ga., Mrs. Lillian Brown of Americus, Ga., and Mamie and Louise Sealy of Howard, Ga. They have the devout sympathy of the young man’s friends in this city. The funeral will take place from the old home place at Howard, Ga., at 10 o’clock this morning and the interment will take place at the Howard cemetery. The remains were carried to Howard, Ga., last night. Many beautiful floral designs were laid on the casket by friends and by the Epworth League and Mr. Sealy’s Sunday school class. The following young men, members of the Young Men’s Baraca class, of St. Luke Church, of which Mr. Sealy was also a member, were the pall-bearers, escorting the remains from the residence on Eight Street to the union passenger station: Messrs. H.E. Weathers, H.R. Mullins, Benjamin T. Brooks, J.E. Nelson, W.C. Henry and J.F. Caldwell. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
