Hill vjbhill@alltel.net September 27, 2003, 5:27 pm Columbus Enquirer, Feb. 9, 1948 JOHN T. POLK John T. Polk, 78, died at his home 860 1/2 Andrews Road Sunday at 4:30 p.m.. He had been sick a week. Mr. Polk who had lived here for a year was born in Randolph County, Georgia February 2, 1870 a son of the late Dan T. and Molly Stephens Polk. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Weston, Georgia and of the Masonic Lodge at Weston. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Edna Polk, Columbus, a daughter Mrs. Ola Brooks, Columbus; four sons, Ambrose L. Polk, Cusseta, James K. Polk, Geneva, Edgar M. Polk, Machen, Georgia and Dan W. Polk, Phenix City, Al. twenty-three grandchildren, seventeen greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral announcement will be announced later. Polk, 860 1/2 Andrews Road will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, Weston, Georgia. The funeral party will leave from 613 twenty-fifth Street at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Polk died at his home Sunday. He was a native of Randolph County, Georgia having been born there February 2, 1870. He had lived in Columbus one year. He was the son of the late Dan T. and Mollly Stephens Polk. Pallbearers will be John W. Polk, Grover G. Polk, George Bullard, William Shepherd, Wiley Barron and Marcus Johnson.
