Walter L. Rice, Sr.

Walter L. Rice, Sr., 69, of 1102 10th Ave., Phenix City, Ala., died Thursday at 
St. Francis Hospital.

Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a. m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church with 
burial in Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. Rice was born September 7, 1903 in Russell County, Ala., son of the late 
Robert and Owlie Creighton Rice.  He had resided in this area all his life.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Rice, Phenix City; two sons, Walter L. 
Rice, Jr. and Robert B. Rice, and three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Collins, Mrs. 
Gloria Roberts and Mrs. Betty Williams, all of Columbus; a brother, Charles W. 
Rice, Phenix City; two sisters, Mrs. Dorris Clegg and Miss Helen Rice, and a 
stepdaughter, Mrs. Lewis Curry, all of Columbus; 16 grandchildren and eight 
great-grandchildren.
