ROBERT HOWARD BURIED AT COLUMBUS Columbus, Ga., January 5--(Special)--The funeral of Col. Robert M. Howard, aged 80, whose death occurred in Eufala yesterday morning, took place here this afternoon from the First Presbyterian church. Colonel Howard was with his daughter when death came. He was one of the most prominent citizens of west Georgia. He was a confederate veteran and author, a speaker of eloquence and a man of deep learning and chivalric impulses. His death is generally deeply regretted. Additional Comments: I need a little help. I'm trying to find out a little more about Col. Howard for a story I'm doing for the Schley county GenWeb site. He was the keynote speaker at the unveiling of the Ellavile monument to Schley county's war dead. I've not had a lot of success with his military career thus far. It seems he was a member of an independant cavalry company. There were few records. I would also be interested in knowing what he authored and generally, what qualified him to be chosen as keynote speaker at the unveiling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
