Rowe, formerly a citizen of our town had taken his life, and the sadness of the intelligence was deepened when the news also came that the wife of Mr. Rowe had died from nervous prostration caused by the death of her husband. It is stated that the health of Mr. Rowe had been bad for quite a while, and that he had become very despondent as to his recovery, and that he was feeling worse than usual and asked his wife to phone for a physician, she did so and while she was gone upon this errand Mr. Rowe went into an adjoining room and cut his throat with a knife which resulted in his death in an hour. When Mrs. Rowe returned and found that her husband had cut his throat she was so overwhelmed with grief that she lost consciousness from which she never revived and died Tuesday night at 8:50 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Rowe had many friends and relatives in this county, and were for several years residents of Butler. Mr. Rowe had one brother, Mr. S.H. Rowe and Mrs. Sallie Windham of this place, while Mrs. Rowe leaves four brothers and two sisters, vis. J.E. Frank, George and Cleve Bartlett, Mrs. C.C. Hughes, of Dothan, Ala., and Mrs. C.A. Wright, of Opelika, Ala. and Mrs. O.A. Wright, of Dothan, Ala., also her mother, Mrs. Mary Barlett, of Dothan. Mr. Rowe had for a number of years been engaged in the livery business in Columbus and so for as known his business was good. He was about 50 and his wife was about 40 years of age. The bereaved have the sympathy of many warm friends in this town. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
