Buchanan, 58, formerly of Columbus, died Sunday in Baltimore, Md. Born in Phenix City, April 4, 1900, Mrs. Buchanan was the daughter of the late W. C. and Emma Varner Jowers. She resided in Phenix City and Columbus most of her life, moving to Baltimore two and a half years ago. She was at one time connected with the former Merchants Bank in Columbus as a bookkeeper. She was a bookkeeper for Columbus Plumbing and Heating, Co. before moving to Baltimore. She was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Hugh Fitzsimmons Jr. of Fort Jackson, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. J. M. Merritt, Baltimore; a nephew, Harry K. Jowers, Kissimmee, Fla.; a niece, Patricia L. Jowers of Kissimmee; and several cousins who live in Columbus and Phenix City. The body was to arrive in Columbus at 1:15 p.m. today. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Colonial Funeral Home.
