Cooper, well known plumber of Columbus, was shot to death this afternoon about 3 o’clock by S.C. Massey, Jr., about the same age. The accident occurred four miles from the city. The boys were packing up lightwood knots for the purpose of starting a fire to make coffee. The shotgun of the Massey boy fell to the ground and was discharged, the load taking effect in the head of the Cooper boy killing him instantly. The mother of Marion Cooper is a former Taylor County lady, daughter of Col. Butler Brand, of Reynolds. Friends throughout this section sincerely sympathize with the bereaved ones.
