J.D. Reeves Is Reported Dead Was in Charge of Passenger Train No. 1 Which Passed Butler at 2:29 Yesterday Afternoon, and Died of Heart Failure Before Reaching Columbus Capt. John D. Reeves, one of the oldest and most reliable Central railroad employees, is reported to have died suddenly yesterday afternoon, of heart trouble, while in the regular discharge of his duties as conductor on the Central’s passenger train, death having occurred as his train, No. 1 between Macon and Columbus, was approaching Muscogee Junction. Capt. Reeves was about 70 years old and had been in the railroad service about forty years. He was very popular with the traveling public and his death will be mourned by hundreds of warm friends in this section.
