Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Hayes McKay of Covenant United Methodist Church officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will hold a reception for visitation and fellowship immediately following the services at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 110, Dothan, AL 36301; Covenant United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3610 W. Main St., Dothan, AL 36305; Manna Church ATK Fund, 5117 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28344; or Crossroads Baptist Church, 3001 Country Club Road, Valdosta, GA 31602. Mrs. Starling was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Columbus, Ga., the daughter of William Walter Singletary III and Lyra Margaret Matthews Singletary. Mrs. Starling was a registered nurse and had been a resident of Dothan since 2002, moving from Athens, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Robert J. Starling; and a sister, Joann Saverance. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Turner Brock of Dothan, Fran Starling of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Starling of Fayetteville, N.C., Scott Starling of Dalton, Ga., and Stephen and Sherri Starling of Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters, Libby Jeffords of Florence and Jean Wood of Spartanburg; two brothers, Robert Singletary of Darlington and Bill Singletary of Timmonsville; and eight grandchildren.
