Johnnie Thelma Smith, 74, of 7207 Whitesville Road, Columbus died Saturday at Phenix Medical Park Hospital. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. today in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Mrs. Smith was born March 26, 1916 in Geneva County, Ala., daughter of James and Emma Lee Givens. She lived in Columbus since 1940 and retired for WestPoint Pepperell Mills. She was the widow of Fred L. Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Betty L James of Columbus, a stepson, Robert L. Smith of Columbus; two sisters, Florence Spann of Columbus and Annie Lee Killingsworth of Phenix City; two brothers, Ray Givens of Columbus and Henry Earl Givens of Pensacola, Fla.; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; six step- grandchildren. Smith, 67, of Route 1, Columbus, died Saturday in St. Francis Hospital. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday in Cypress Chapel, with burial in Parkhill Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born Dec. 2, 1902, in Roanoke, Ala, a son of the late Owen K. Smith and Hattie Lannie Chase. He lived in Columbus 56 years and was a member of Midland Masonic Lodge and a Methodist. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Johnnie Smith, Columbus; one son, Robert L. Smith, Columbus; one step- daughter, Mrs. Betty L. James, Columbus; two brothers, Roy Smith, Fortson, Ga., and Fuller Smith, Rome, Ga.; six sisters, Mrs. Eula Etridge and Mrs. Pauline Watson, both of Columbus, Mrs. Ola Bogner, Eufaula, Ala., Mrs. Bessie Bristow, Union Spring, Ala., Mrs. Lois Williams, Atlanta, and Mrs. Glennie Smith, Huntsville, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
