Watkins Succumbs and Rites Will Be Held This Afternoon Luther Thomas Watkins, 79, prominent citizen of Phenix City, who had resided there for the past fifty years died at his residence 210 Knowles Street, Phenix City, Saturday Morning at 3:45 0'clock after an illness of four weeks. Mr. Watkins was formerly in the meat business in the Old City Market in Columbus, but, retired fifteen years ago. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Watkins, two sons, L. C. Watkins of Columbus and J. Nobles Watkins of Atlanta and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 0'clock from the chapel of Britton and Dobbs Funeral Home. Dr. F. S. Porter, pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment following in Riverdale Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Active, Stacy Jones, Dubley Silas, Washburn Silas, Grady Brown, Jesse Blake, and Edgar Horne. Honorary: Buford King, Ralph King, G. S. Hamer, J. B. Key, Elmer Massey, Bascom Key.
