Whitley Midland, GA. June 11- Mrs. Mary Adline Whitley, wife of Mr. W. F. Whitley, died at her home here at 7 o'clock Friday morning, the 6th instant, following a serious illness of only a few days, but her health had been quite feeble for many months. She was born in Fayette County, Georgia on the third day of February, 1857, and was more than 67 years of age. Mrs. Whitley joined the Baptist church when a young woman and her membership was at Bethel, near this place. Besides her husband, she is survived by the following sons and daughters: John Whitley of Ellerslie; J. T. Whitley and S. W. Whitley of Midland; Edgar Whitley of LaGrange; J. L. Whitley of Columbus; Mrs. Willie Matthews of Taylor county; Mrs. Otis Moore of Columbus; and Miss Orvie (Arrie) Whitley, of Midland. Besides these there have been forty-five grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren. The funeral was held at her late home at 2 o'clock Saturday and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. R. M. Stephens of Newnan, assisted by Rev. A. A. Waits of this place. A large number of relatives and friends of the deceased attended the funeral and the interment was at the Russell cemetery. The following grandsons acted as pallbearers: Jamie Whitley, Robert Whitley, Roy Matthews, Lester Whitley, Tillman Whitley and Charley Story. (Note: Charley Storey was actually the husband of Mary's granddaughter. BD conflicts with the birthdate on her marker of May 28, 1858 and the 1900 census which said August 1853. Her death certificate said born 1857 in Pike County, GA, Mary Adeline Quick)
