After the war he moved to Putnam Co., Ga. & Later to Muscogee Co.Ga. He drew 202 1/2 acres in the 1827 lottery, He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, he is buried with his family in a cemetery which was located in front and south of his home. The grave was discovered sometime in the 1980's and was reclaimed and restored in May 1989. Additional Comments: Buried on each side Samuel Cooper , Is a Son James Cooper died April 10, 1883, and a Dau. Mary Cooper no birth or death dates.
