Mitchell at the First Baptist Church Yesterday Evening-An Elegant Reception at the Home of Major and Mrs. L. Hamburger. One of the prettiest weddings that has ever taken place in Columbus was the one which occurred at the First Baptist church last evening at 6 o'clock. The church was crowded with invited guests, friends of Miss Hamburger and Mr. Mitchell, who assembled to witness the very happy union. The wedding is one of the matrimonial events of this season, and an event in which society has been deeply interested, on account of the prominence of the contracting parties. The church was dressed with exquisite beauty and taste, and the arrangement of the vines and flowers was unique and pretty. Around the four walls were garlands of bamboo, festooned gracefully. In the two main aisles of the edifice were archways of palms. The chancel was trimmed with calla lilies, while the centre of the chancel was banked with daffodils. The bridesmaids entered the church at the doors leading from the pastor's study to the pulpit, walked down the aisles and met the groomsmen at the front doors of the edifice. In the main aisle the groomsmen formed in double line under the archway of palms and daffodils. The bridesmaids then returned, passing between the groomsmen and taking positions within the chapel. The bride with her maid of honor, Miss Lula Hill, and the groom with his best man, Mr. Robert Murdoch, then entered and the groomsmen took positions also within the chancel. The bride with her maid of honor, and the groom with Mr. Murdoch, stood in the front of the bank of daffodils, while Dr. A J Battle, of Rome, performed a beautiful wedding ceremony. The bride wore an elegant gown of heavy corded white silk, with rose point lace and pearl passementry. Her veil was of tulle, and was fastened with a beautiful diamond pin, a gift of the groom. Her bouquet was of bride's roses. The attendants were: Miss Lula Hill, maid of honor, Miss Nelle Williams, Miss Maryella Howard, Miss Agnes Spencer, Miss Helena Spencer, Miss Berta Kirven, Miss Rebecca Flournoy, Miss Mary Hanserd, Miss Pat Preer, Miss Alma Williams and Miss Lula Hunt of Atlanta. Messrs. Robert Murdoch, John Little, Albert Mason, George Mason, W E Estes, George Hamburger, Ira Clark, Arthur Woolfolk, Charels D. Hunt, T W Grimes, E _ Patterson. Misses Leonora Swift and Fannie Chandler were the little bride's maids. An elegant reception at the home of Major and Mrs. Hamburger, on Third avenue, followed the wedding ceremony. The decorations of all the apartments were in green and yellow and were particularly noticeable for their unique beauty. Many beautiful bridal gifts were on exhibition in the parlors, and during the evening quite a large number of congratulatory telegrams were received by Mr. Mitchell and his bride. A pleasant feature of the evening was the drawing among the brides-maids for a dainty love-knot ring. Miss Nelle Williams was the young lady who drew the souvenir of the very joyous occasion. Mr. Mitchell and his bride left at 10 o'clock on a special train to Opelika, Ala., and this morning will leave for the Midwinter Exposition at San Francisco, Cal. Miss Hamburger is a daughter of Major Louis Hamburger, one of the most prominent manufacturing men of Georgia. Miss Hamburger is a womanly woman. She possesses all the charms of cultivated womanhood and is very popular with all who know her. Mr. Mitchell is one of the best known and most valuable of the several traveling salesmen of the Eagle and Phenix Manufacturing Company.
