Martin – Scarborough

The wedding of Miss Edith Martin, daughter of Judge and Mrs. J.H. Martin, and 
Mr. Wilmer Scarborough, on Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock, at their charming 
country place at Osshatchie, the Rev. L.W. Colson, of St. Paul’s church 
reading the marriage ceremony, was the social event of the week.  Music was 
furnished by Mrs. Frank Dudley and Miss Jessie B. Henry.

A garland of smilax interspersed with large bows of white tulle held by Misses 
Ethel Scarborough, Martha Martin, Maidell Roberts of Valdosta; Alice Johnson, 
Martha Lewis, of Macon; Eula Kirven, Marie Spivey, of Talbotton, and Eliza 
Hill, of Greenville, all wearing lingerie dresses, formed an aisle for the 
bridal party.  The matron of honor, Mrs. P.B. Browning, was followed by the 
bride’s sister, Miss Ruth Martin, as maid of honor, wearing a dainty frock of 
lingerie and carrying an arm cluster of daffodils, showered with feathery 
ferns.

The bride entered with her father and was lovely in her wedding gown of crepe 
meteor, and her long tulle veil fell over a shower bouquet of bride’s roses 
and lilies of the valley.

Mr. Claud Scarborough was his brother’s best man.

Immediately after the ceremony a buffet supper was given in honor of the bride

Col. and Mrs. J.H. McGehee and children attended the Martin-Scarborough 
wedding near Ellerslie Thursday night.

Miss Marie Spivey and Mrs. E.H. Spivey attended the Martin-Scarborough wedding 
near Ellerslie Thursday evening.
