MARIA THOMAS GRIER STATE OF GEORGIA, MUSCOGEE COUNTY. I, Maria Thomas Grier, of Said State and County being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make, Publish and declare this as my last will and Testament, hereby revoking any and all wills that I may have formade. I will and direct that my body be buried in a Christian manner without pomp or extravagance. I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as possible. I give and bequeath to my two grandchildren Winifred McKnight and Erma McKnight, the children of my daughter, Tillie, the following described property to wit: house and lot situated in the City of Columbus, in the County of Muscogee, and State of Georgia known as S---t No. 709 , located on Third Avenue in the said City of Columbus, Georgia, between Seventh and Chapel Street being a part of Lot No. 8 of what is known as Catholic Church Square, to have and to hold the same jointly and in fee simple. I also give to my two said grandchildren jointly, one set of Oak furniture, Consisting of a dresser, wash stand, bedstead, Marble-top Centre Table. Also, one feather mattress, two other mattresses, two feather pillows, one feather bolster, and one piano, which piano is now in the home of my daughter, Tillie. I give and bequeath to my son, Robert S. Grier, the sum of five dollars. I will and direct that all money and other property of which I may die S----d & possessed, and that has not herein before been disposed of, shall be equally divided between my four daughters. Mrs. Mary Davis, Mrs. Lizzie Kelly, Mrs. Katie Conner & Mrs. Tillie Hall. I nominate and appoint, my son, Robert S. Grier, James M. Davis and Annie Fee Grier, The wife of my son, Robert S. Grier Executors & Executrix of this my last will and testament, and I desire that they be not required to give any Bond as such and I relieve of the necessity of making any return as such Executions of their acts as such. I also direct all authority is hereby given them, to sell either at public or private sale, any part of my Estate, should it become necessary to do so, within any order of Court therefore. In witness, whereof, I have set my hand this 2nd day of April 1906. Sullivan April 2, 1906 Additional Comments: She names her self in the will as Maria Thomas Grier, but according to my Aunt she did this to show she was Mrs. Thomas Grier. Her Name was actually Maria Clarke Grier. I transcribed this from a copy of the hand written will. I have left the spelling as it was. There were a few words that were illegible and for these I type the letters I could read.
