Additional Comments:
The following individuals were listed in the 1847 inventory of the estate of James
H. Shorter, Esq. of 
Russell County, Alabama.  The Shorter family had strong family ties and presence  in
Columbus, GA.   
Families were listed on the line along with their total market value, so this is a
real treasure. I assume 
that those on the same line without designation of family connection were at least
siblings.  Some 
could have been husband and wife without designation.
