Dolly came from New England and lived with her sister to teach school in Covington. Doldly met and married a plantation owner, Mr. Burge, residing some six or seven miles east of Covington. Mr. Burge died in the late 1850s leaving Dolly with the plantation and over a hundred slaves. OXFORD ECHOES by C. C. Jarrell has an interesting account of Dolly's encounter with Sherman's army on its way to Savannah from Atlanta 1864-1865. Dolly married Rev. W. J. Parks, a prominent Methodist Minister soon after the war. Her daughter, Sadie burge, married another Methodist minister, J. D. Gray. Their daughter, Ida married Merrit J. Within a few years, Mary Frances died a lingering death from cancer. In the late 1980s Lane married his erstwhile secretary, Laurie J, a widow with two daughters.
