The Georgia Enterprise March 30, 1900
     By permission of Dr. N. Z. Anderson, of Eudora, we publish a letter 
written him by Will Smith, a negro, who left him for the fertile lands beyond 
the Mississippi with the Negro exodus some weeks ago. The letter is printed 
just as written. Following is the letter:

Mrh. 18the, 1900
Mr. Dr. anDrewSon,
Dear Sir:
     I take Great Pleasure in wRiteing to you to let You Know that my wife iS 
out heri with me and She is DissatiSfied and wont to Come back home, and She 
tould me that you tould her that you would Send the money after her if in Case 
that She Diten like out heri to wRite back to you an you would Sind her the 
money for me and her to Come Home and I myself has been sick but is up an about 
now but my wife she is just like she was just befor Chrismas, and the ChilDren 
is punna an we all wont to Come back if we Can get back oh if you will Help us 
back why I will settle it up with you. My transpertation ticket is about 100 
Hundred Dollars with what I have Eat on the wRoad an also you Can sind the 
money oh you Can Come an pay it. Eather one, so that is all I have got to say.

     an I wont to know at once what you is gwine Do. wRite to me at once so I 
may know. I wont you to pay our way back if you will and if you will sind me 
the money why I will Come wRight on to you and if you Don’t wont to Sind the 
money why Come an pay it, an I will go back with you when you Com be Shure and 
sind me the money, oh you Come an pay it for me, and I will Come and take my 
Same farm oh I will farm any where that you wont me to farm.
