B. Gordon, Governor of said State. WHEREAS, Official information has been received at this department that on the first day of December 1888, in the county of Newton, a murder was committed upon the body of W. G. Jones, by some person or persons unknown: I have thought proper therefore to issue this my Proclamation hereby offering a reward of Three Hundred Dollars for the apprehension and delivery of said murderer or murderers, with evidence sufficient to ____ _____ to the sheriff of said County and State. And I do moreover charge and require all Officers in this State, Civil and Military, to be vigilant in endeavoring to apprehend the said murderer, or murderers, in order that he or they may be brought to trial for the offense with which he or they stands charged. Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State, at the Capitol in Atlanta, this the Nineteenth day of December in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the One Hundred and Thirteenth.
