The Georgia Enterprise February 14, 1873
     After retiring to bed on the night of the 12th inst., Sheriff Anderson was 
informed that TAYLOR HALL, a white man, implicated in the murder of the Negro, 
JAMES SIMS, on last Christmas night, was in the vicinity. Promptly acting on 
the intelligence, he found HALL concealed in a fodder house, two miles beyond 
Steadman, and arrested him at 2 o’clock on the morning of the 13th. The 
prisoner was lodged in the Covington Jail, to await trial at the next session 
of the Superior Court. If criminals escape punishment in Newton County, Sheriff 
Anderson does not mean that it shall be for want of vigilance on his part.

Broke Jail $50 Reward
     I will give the above reward for the apprehension and delivery to me of 
TAYLOR HALL, (white), and WILEY LUCAS, (colored), who broke jail at Covington, 
on Wednesday night, the 19th inst. and made their escape. Or I will give $25.00 
for the apprehension and delivery of either one of them.
     TAYLOR HALL is a small, dark skin man, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, 
black hair, hazel eyes, between 25 and 30 years old, and weighs about 130 or 
135 pounds.
     WILEY LUCAS is a small, chunky, copper colored Negro, about 5 feet ? 
inches high, weighs about 1??  pounds and is about 28 years.
     Taylor Hall has been about Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, and has a 
brother living near Lawrenceville.
     Both the above named persons are charged with the offense of murder.
