Only a very few of the twenty-four members were absent. The following new members were received into the society; ADGER STEWART JACK CARR EDWIN TAYLOR New Officers were elected as follows: President ADGER STEWART Vice President LINNIE YANCEY Secretary and Treasurer WILLIE FARMER The subject debated was, “Resolved that drugstores should be kept open on Sunday.” The President decided in favor of the Affirmative. Several able speeches were made on both sides, those on the Affirmative by WILLIE and JIMPSIE FARMER and ERNEST LEE, those on the Negative by ADGER STEWART, BENNIE SIMMS and RAY ROGERS. The subject to be next debated is “Resolved, the natives had a right to the soil.” EDD STEPHENSON and RAY ROGERS are disputants, the former having the Negative side of the question, and the latter, the Affirmative. Great interest is usually taken in the “Queer Queries,” given by our Professor for every meeting of the society.
