The accident happened directly opposite the home of C. M. GRIFFIN near the Sockwell Crossing, about half way between Covington and Almon. HERMAN LOYD, who was driving the Nu_Grape truck, says the steering gear went wrong and he lost control of his machine and it dashed into a telephone pole, turning turtle, throwing the truck and its contents on top of him and Loyd Hays. CHARLES BIGGERS, who drives the Chero-Cola truck, was enroute to Atlanta and was the first man to reach the wrecked car and helped rescue the unfortunate occupants. He placed the injured men in his truck and brought them back to Covington as quickly as possible for medical attention. The doctor decided the young man’s leg was broken in more than one place and he was taken to Atlanta in an ambulance to have the leg ex-rayed.
